About Us

Janet Volk, creator of The Women's L Project, has loved Chicago history ever since her third grade social studies class which focused on the city.  She lives in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood near the Red Line and is a docent with the Chicago Architecture Center.

Jessika Savage is a Chicago-based graphic designer who has lived off of the Blue Line for over 13 years.  Her daily walks during college past the Jane Addams Hull-House on the UIC campus sparked her initial curiosity about the women of Chicago's history.  She is excited to be highlighting the names and lives of these women with this project.  Jessika specializes in design for women-led businesses and organizations.  Take a look at more of Jessika's work on her website.

The Women's L Project is grateful for the many Chicago historians, professors, community organizers and Chicago residents
who suggested and reviewed the women included in this project.
